About Me
My life, since the moment of Dave’s birth, has been all about Dave. He is the greatest love I’ve ever known, my source of happiness and honestly why I am still on this earth today.
When Dave was first diagnosed in October of 2003, I thought about leaving accounting to study medicine. I ended up going to medical conference after medical conference, reading all the books I could find on autism, the gut-brain connection and the immune system. I also started, and ran, an autism charity to help other local families in need, for 14 years. I was also very active in youth ministries at our local church. Between all the hats I was wearing, trying to heal my son and with my own health issues, I had nothing left in me to switch careers to attend medical school. So, I kept my day job as a financial accountant which I happily still practice today. I am also passionate about writing and wrote the first paragraph to my ‘book’ in 2004. Someday, I hope to have the time to actually complete that book.
I have since learned to stop trying to ‘be it all,’ I’ve learned to say no to things I don’t have time for and I’ve learned that my son is the ministry that the Lord has called me to. I am learning to stop and smell the roses (after working full-time days). So now I spend my free time with the great love of my life, my husband, and the greatest blessing to ever happen to me … my Davey.
